This year's Hair Care Award is for all hair care products, except hair styling products. Shampoo, conditioner (also shampoo / conditioner set), hair masks, hair oils or other types of hair care products. The products are assessed based on composition, effectiveness, significance for the appearance of the hair, as well as fragrance and consistency. Are promises kept in terms of claim of properties e.g. shine, volume, color and hair type? Quality, idea, and innovation are assessed. Two categories: Popular and luxury, where popular often are sold from supermarkets or pharmacies, while luxury is selective in distribution, but can be found in both retail and in professional salons.
This year's Hair Styling Product is evaluated based on composition, effectiveness, significance for the appearance of the hair, as well as durability, fragrance, and consistency. Does the product comply with claims about gloss, volume, hold and flexibility, etc.? Product quality, idea and innovation are assessed. This category is divided into two: Popular = mass market, and luxury styling products which are used and sold professionally, but also luxury products from retail.
Durability, lightness, skin feel, colors and consistency are parameters of great importance in the assessment of Makeup Product of the Year. Emphasis is placed on innovation, packaging, and usability. Products and looks can be submitted. The category includes products such as concealers, powders, primers, and foundations, but also the decorative makeup such as lipsticks, eye shadows, palettes, nail polishes, mascaras, etc. An important consideration when placing in the category is whether the product is makeup or skin care - or possibly both. Category is split into Popular and Luxury. Products sold and used at Clinics / Salons / Spas will as a starting point be Luxury.
This year's Body Care Product is assessed based on e.g. composition, skin feel, sensory impressions, and innovation. Does the product live up to the promises in terms of skin type and effectiveness? Is the product outstanding in terms of scent and texture? The category also includes nail care products, and products for hands and feet. Cleansing products have their own category, and a distinction can be made between whether the primary function is care or cleaning. Category is split into Popular and Luxury and professional products will belong to Luxury.
This year's Facial Care Product is divided into three categories. There are skin care winners among products in the categories Popular, Luxury Retail and a separate category for Professional products. Ingredients, effect according to promises, skin feel, consistency, fragrance, target audience, innovation, and functionality are assessed by the panel. The Face Product Care of the Year includes masks if they primarily are having caring properties. Cleansing products have their specific category, and there is an independent category for Serum of the Year.
Serum of the Year is an effective product with many possible behaviors: an extra moisture boost, care in the form of oil, vitamins or perfect for the skin's microbiome. The judges will look at active ingredients targeting special conditions such as pigment changes, acne, or wrinkles, and it will be assessed how the interaction with other care products are. Serum can be for both face and body. Other terms can be, for example, "concentrate" or "essence".
A product used to cleanse the face and / or body: cleansing lotions, scrubs, masks, skin tonic, soaps, shower gels and the like for face and body. All beauty products where cleansing of the skin is the primary function can be included in the category. Products – e.g. masks – with a caring function will be in the category of facial care / body care, but may as well be placed in both categories. Efficiency, results, convenience, fragrance, and consistency are some of the parameters that will be considered. The category includes cleansing products from both popular and luxury - retail and professional.
This category is not exclusively for products which are marketed in accordance with cosmetic legislation, but the category will also embrace hand disinfection, which is to be regarded as a biocide or medical equipment. Product types such as deodorants, soaps, intimate care, and oral hygiene products will also be considered in this category. The products are assessed on the choice of ingredients and claims, innovation, and actual usability of the product, where the packaging is included in the overall impression. Companies that have made special hygiene measures can also be part of this category.
This category includes all products marketed specifically for men and targeted to specific masculine needs. It can for example be for shaving, beard care, face and body care, masks, or makeup. Innovation and functionality will be included in the assessment.
We have two categories for resp. Feminine Fragrance of the Year and Masculine Fragrance of the Year. Unisex fragrances can be in both categories. It is first and foremost the scent that is judged but also composition, harmony, innovation, target group appeal and the experience of the bottle and packaging are considered in the overall assessment. Every year, many fragrances are sent to the market, but what has the potential to become a favorite fragrance for men and / or women? Which one is noticed?
The niche award is given to a niche product or a niche brand. A niche product typically meets a very specific need and can also be called a "specialty product". It is new, innovative, and probably a little different from the products we usually encounter. Perhaps only a limited number of consumers need this product, but it can still be widely distributed. A niche brand can also be a brand that is distributed through a very narrow dealer network - a brand that the consumer almost must look for. History, idea, concept, and innovation weigh heavily in this category.
This year's Niche fragrance is special and maybe not a commercial fragrance. A niche fragrance is a fragrance that is in narrow distribution only. We take composition, harmony, innovation, target group appeal and the experience of the bottle and packaging into account in the overall assessment. The fragrance can be specifically targeted at women or men, but it can also be a gender-neutral fragrance.
Technology must be at the forefront. This award will recognize the launch of a product that represents unique innovation. Products submitted to this category must represent a technological innovation at ingredient or production level that will have an impact on beauty products of the future. Innovation in the combination of product and packaging may also be considered.
In the New Brand of the Year category, the entry of a new brand into the Danish market has taken place in 2021. The New Brand of the Year is a brand of high quality and with good values. A brand that has come to stay. We are all excited about the arrival of the brand in Denmark. The category also accepts the launch of brands that have been officially launched in Denmark during the year and now are 'branded' via a designated distributor, so that it is widely available. There may be transitions around the turn of the year for the launch date for the press, arrival in retail and availability for consumers.
This year's Danish Product is given to a product developed and / or produced in Denmark. The product can be specially adapted to Danish conditions, Danish consumers or developed by innovative and creative Danes. It may well have been produced abroad, but in that case the recipe must have been developed in Denmark.
This category pleases the Danish beauty industry only. The Danish beauty industry is undergoing rapid development. An industry that performs well both nationally and internationally – also adaptable and considerate. The Danish companies are frontrunners in the green area and are eminent for creating products that take special care. The award can be given to both a Danish series, a Danish brand, a Danish production company, a Danish distributor, or a person from the Danish beauty industry.
The Green Award is given to a product, brand or company that is in the "green category". Justification must follow the products, so that they emphasize how the product contributes to a more sustainable consumption. This category includes, for example, a natural product, organic product or, for example, a product, brand, or company that pays special attention to packaging, climate and/or the environment in other ways. This will include eco-labeled products.
The award is given to a product that has a protective effect or takes special care, eg protects against pollution or blue light. It can be products for both face and/or body. The category includes products that are particularly considerate in relation to children or people who do not tolerate specific ingredients such as perfume. This category will therefore include both unscented products, allergy-labeled products, and products for children.
The award is given to a product that takes special care in terms of protecting against the sun's UV rays. The sun protection products must follow the EU Commission's recommendation regarding UVA and UVB. Judges assess several parameters such as choice of ingredients, innovation, effect, fragrance, consistency, usability, and packaging.

This is a new category in 2022. Products should give you glow. For example, makeup, primers, and self-tanning products for face and/or body. The judges look at the result on the skin, durability, application, composition, and innovation. It can be anything from drops, mousse, lotion to powder. With and without sun protection.
A new line or series of products. It can e.g. be a facial care series that includes both cleansing and care, a line of body care products for a specific skin type or e.g. a hair care or fragrance series. The series may well have been launched on the market by an existing brand. If you want one or more of the products assessed individually in other categories, then the individual product must be registered in the category(ies), otherwise the judging panel will only assess the series as one. The series is considered "a product". If products from the series are also registered individually, it a separate registration fee, but the judges only need to receive the product once. The judges do not have to receive the entire series. It is okay to select products that represent the series. However, the judges must receive a minimum of two products from the series to evaluate it as a series.
The award for the best beauty treatment of the year must go to a treatment performed at a clinic, spa or salon that provides an exceptionally good treatment of hair, face, or body with basic or high-tech products from the industry. The treatment must be professional and fill a special need that is modern and trendsetting. Not all judges try the registered treatments, but 3-5 judges will initially assess and share assessments with the rest of the panel. If the treatment is among the 5 nominees, more judges will test the treatment.
This year's Salon / Clinic / Shop / Spa must have had a special success in marketing, selling, and using beauty products in 2021. It can be a shop, a supermarket chain, a pharmacy, a department store or e.g. a hair salon, beauty clinic, spa or a dermatology clinic - no limits are set as long as it is a treatment and / or sales point for legal cosmetic products. Suppliers are welcome to register for the place, but shops, salons and clinics can also register for the competition themselves. Remember to describe special conditions that characterize the place, and which mean that we are seeing an extraordinary Salon / Shop / Clinic / Spa. Photos must be submitted. Not all judges will visit the registered venues, but 3-5 judges will rate and share ratings with the rest of the panel. If the place is among the 5 nominees, more judges will visit the place to assess.
This is NOT a cosmetic product, but a product related to cosmetics. It is a product used with cosmetics such as a popular makeup brush, hairbrush or an electric device, but it can also be a makeup purse or a hair elastic. To win the award in 2022, the product must be launched on the Danish market in 2021.
The award is given to a person who is passionate about the world of beauty and cosmetics, and who makes an extra effort in or for the industry in Denmark or abroad. Suggestions are welcome for this category. There is no registration fee.
This category is for Inner Beauty products that make you more beautiful and healthier from the inside. The category includes supplements, superfoods, probiotics, etc. that can affect hair, nails and skin condition, health, and appearance. The products in this category must have been available on the Danish market in 2021 but must not necessarily be launched in 2021. The winning products from the last 5 Danish Beauty Awards cannot participate again.

Dietary supplements are considered foods and are regulated in accordance with food legislation. There are special rules applicable to dietary supplements in the Dietary Supplements Directive (2002/46) and the national executive order on dietary supplements (no. 39 of 12/01/2016). In the case of claims, the products must comply with the applicable rules described in the Claims Regulation (1924/2006) as well as the approved claims described in EFSA's EU Register on nutrition and health claims. The judging panel reserves the right to request additional information and documentation.
This award is given to a product that is considered something special by a number of Danish beauty influencers. The judges will nominate the products and then ask the suppliers to send the product directly to the group of the selected influencers (6-8 additional products). Influencers will nominate a winner of the Influencers' Choice Award category. By selecting the category Influencers' Choice Award upon registration, it is stated that you are happy to contribute products for assessment by the Influencer panel.
Classic of the Year is not a new launch in 2021, but a product that has had - and continues to have - a permanent place on the shelves. It was innovation once, and the concept is still fantastic. Is the product still a bestseller? And are composition, efficiency, fragrance, consistency, and claims still up-to-date. Suppliers are very welcome to submit product proposals, but the judging panel will also find products themselves that can receive the award as Classic of the Year. There will not be 5 nominees in this category, but the winner will be revealed at the Danish Beauty Award 2022 award show. No registration fee will be charged for proposals for the Classic of the Year.
This year's Consumer Award will be found by voting among consumers online and / or via text message, if any. in collaboration with one or more partners. The judging panel will select the nominees which will be published so that the winner can be found by voting among consumers. All cosmetic products (except products that must be used professionally) can be in the competition to win the Consumer Award of the Year - whether the product is sold online, at pharmacies, at perfumeries, materialists, in department stores, clinics, hair salons or elsewhere. By choosing to participate in the category Consumer Award of the Year upon registration, it is also stated that you are happy to participate with products for the consumer competition (5 products). 5 consumers who have voted will win the nominees in the category.
